The Application Process

MITS receives a large number of applications every year. We follow a thorough application process to make sure that each of our students will benefit from coming to school in Melbourne.

Our application process is carried out in accordance with our Application and Enrolment Policy, which can be found here. Before starting your application, contact Patrick Bowden (Community Engagement Manager) on 0400 315 809 to discuss your child and family's interest in attending MITS.

1

Start your application

To express your interest in your child attending MITS you must first complete an Expression of Interest Form. This will provide MITS with some general information about the student and their family. It will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and must be completed in one go.

To complete the Expression of Interest Form, click here.

2

Submit your documents online

Once you have completed an Application Form, you must provide a number of documents. A link to upload these documents will be emailed to you once you have completed the Expression of Interest Application Form. You will need to upload the following: student’s Handwritten Work and Family Consent, two most recent school reports, School Principal’s Reference, most recent NAPLAN results, student’s Attendance Record and a Copy of the student's Birth Certificate.

3

Shortlisting and interviews

Each year MITS interviews approximately 45 students for our 22 positions. MITS staff will travel to your community to meet you and your family and to speak with your teachers. Interviews happen in late August and early September.

4

Offer

MITS offers positions to 11 girls and 11 boys each year. Offers are made in early Term 4 for the following year. If you do not receive an offer you may be waitlisted in case a place becomes available.

5

Acceptance

To be accepted to MITS you must complete your enrolment forms and be approved for ABSTUDY Away-from-Home allowances. Our Community Engagement Manager will work with you and your family to prepare for MITS Orientation in Melbourne in late January the following year. We will soon be welcoming you as a new MITS student!
